Structured populations in the N-person snowdrift game

Abstract

More and more, the issue of emergence of cooperation has become an interdisciplinary question, with Evolutionary Game Theory as the tool of the trade that unifies those diverse areas with a single math. To try to understand cooperative behavior, however, we cannot rely only on 2-person interactions; in most cases, N-person ones are the most appropriate. The most studied generalized social dilemma is, by far, the Public Goods Game, but the N-person Snowdrift Game has also a preponderant role in the understanding of cooperation. I will address the consequences of structured populations in this particular game – we find that it has a significant impact when compared to the infinite, well-mixed expectations.
