How to get to the OGAUC

  • FROM OUTSIDE COIMBRA
    • BY CAR
      • From the MOTORWAY A1 Lisbon-Oporto, leave at EXIT 12 (Km 190) COIMBRA-SUL.
      • Go to COIMBRA following road EN341.
      • After 4.5 km, just before the MONDEGO bridge, turn right to RUA DA GUARDA INGLESA in the direction of CONDEIXA.
      • After 1.5 km you will find a roundabout, called ROSSIO DE SANTA CLARA. In front of you is the main entrance to PORTUGAL DOS PEQUENITOS.
      • Then turn right and take the ANTIGA ESTRADA NACIONAL DE LISBOA (N1) in the direction of HOSPITAL DOS COVÕES.
      • After 600m you will find another roundabout. Turn right up RUA DR. MENDES DOS REMÉDIOS.
      • Continue up RUA DR. MENDES DOS REMÉDIOS for about 1 km and you will find on your right the entrance of the parking lot of the OGAUC.
    • BY TRAIN
      • Coimbra is served by two major train services - ALFA - directly from LISBON (Sta. Apolónia Station) or OPORTO (Campanhã Station) - and INTERCIDADES with direct links to Lisbon, Oporto and Braga. For more detailed information look at the Portuguese Railway Services (CP) at https://www.cp.pt/passageiros/en.
      • Coimbra is served by two railway stations: COIMBRA A in the city centre and COIMBRA B in the north of the city. ALFA and INTERCIDADES stop at COIMBRA B. There are several link services from COIMBRA B to COIMBRA A (city centre) by train.
      • If you decide to leave at COIMBRA B you can only reach the OGAUC by Taxi (Taxis are available in front of the station). Otherwise go to COIMBRA A and take a BUS or a TAXI.
  • FROM INSIDE COIMBRA
    • BY BUS
      • The OGAUC is served by two Bus lines - number 46 and 14T. Both lines stop at BEIRA-RIO or at Avenida Emídio Navarro near the railway Station (COIMBRA A).
      • Line 14 T departs from S. Martinho do Bispo and stops at Beira-Rio. You should catch the bus at BEIRA-RIO some meters south from the station (at COIMBRA A, walk out to the south side and continue walking next to the river). Once at the bus, ask the driver for the ALMAS DE FREIRE stop, near the OGAUC.
      • Line 46 departs from Av. Afonso Henriques and stops at MESURA a few minutes walk from the OGAUC. This line goes through the CITY CENTRE, close to the university area, the so-called ALTA. If you decide to visit the HISTORICAL AREA, or the COIMBRA UNIVERSITY you can also catch the bus at Praça da República or at Av. Alexandre Herculano.
      • Bus tickets: you can buy a single ticket directly from the bus driver or otherwise you can purchase in advance reduced fare travelcards (valid for 10 journeys as you wish) from any SMTUC (Coimbra Bus Company) counter or kiosk just outside the railway station or in the city centre. Single tickets cost about 1.5 EUR whilst a book of 10 tickets costs about 5 EUR.

      4. BY TAXI

      • Taxis are available in front of the railway stations (COIMBRA A and B) as well as in the city centre.
      • From COIMBRA B / COIMBRA A / City Centre and the OGAUC the fare may vary between 3 and 5 EUR.
